Property Listing Layout – List Properties
[TOC]
Purpose
The Property Listing Layout is the main front-end page where visitors can browse all available properties. It acts as the core discovery tool of the site, presenting properties in a structured, filterable list. Site administrators can configure it to display properties from a specific category, type, location, or company, and can control which filters and sorting options are shown to visitors.
How It Works
When a visitor navigates to the property listing page, they see a collection of properties presented in their chosen view format (list, grid, or map). An optional filter panel at the top of the page allows visitors to narrow down the results without leaving the page. The system retrieves properties that match the configured display settings and any filters the visitor has applied, then displays them with key details such as title, price, location, and thumbnail image.
Properties can be sorted and ordered, and the layout supports pagination to manage large numbers of listings. Multiple display themes may be available depending on the site configuration.
How to Use It
- Browse the listings – Open the property listing page from the site menu. You will see a list or grid of available properties.
- Apply filters – If a filter panel is shown at the top, use the available dropdowns (category, property type, location, price range, keywords) to narrow results. Submit the filter to refresh the listing.
- Change the view – If multiple views are available (list, grid, map), use the view toggle controls to switch between them.
- Sort the results – Use the sort controls if available to order properties by title, price, newest first, or featured status.
- Click a property – Select any property in the list to view its full details page.
Practical Use Cases
- General property browsing – A visitor arriving at a real estate site wants to see what is available. The listing page gives them a full overview with the ability to apply filters.
- Filtered category page – An administrator sets up a dedicated listing page for "Apartments for Rent" by pre-filtering the layout to a specific category.
- Featured properties showcase – The layout is configured to show only featured properties, creating a highlights page for premium listings.
- Location-specific listing – A listing page is configured to show only properties in a specific state or region, useful for location-focused real estate sites.
- Agent's property list – The layout can be scoped to show only properties submitted by a specific user or agent.

Important Notes
- The exact filters and controls shown depend on the administrator's configuration in the menu item settings. Not all filters may be visible on every site.
- The display theme (list, grid, map) may vary across sites. Contact the site administrator if the view format is not as expected.
- Only published and approved properties appear in the listing. If a property is not visible, it may be pending approval.
- The maximum number of properties shown per page is configurable by the administrator.
- Sorting and filter options are also administrator-controlled and may be limited on some installations.
- On sites with a large number of listings, using filters helps narrow results and improves browsing performance.
