Purpose

The Agent Registration page allows users to register as a real estate participant in the OS Property system. This is for users who want to list and manage properties — such as agents, owners, brokers, builders, landlords, or sellers. The registration form creates or links a user account in the system, granting access to front-end property management features.

How It Works

The Agent Registration form is accessible to both visitors who do not have a site account and to existing logged-in users who want to expand their role to include property listing privileges.

  • Non-registered visitors fill in all required fields including personal details and login credentials. On successful submission, a Joomla user account is created for them in the system, and a welcome email with their login credentials is sent to their email address.
  • Already-registered users who are logged in can register as a real estate user to add the ability to list properties. They may need to complete additional profile information.

Once registered, users can log in and access features such as adding property listings, editing their profile, and managing their listings.

If the site uses OS Membership for subscription management, the registration process may require the user to select and complete a membership plan before gaining full access to property listing features.

How to Use It

  1. Open the Agent Registration page from the site menu.
  2. Fill in the registration form – Enter the required personal details. Depending on the site's configuration, this may include:
    • First name and last name
    • Username and password (for new users)
    • Email address
    • Phone number and address
    • User type (Agent, Owner, Broker, Builder, Landlord, Seller, etc.)
    • Company assignment (optional — you can be assigned to an existing company)
  3. Complete the CAPTCHA (if enabled) to verify you are not a robot.
  4. Submit the form – Click the Register button to complete your registration.
  5. Check your email – You will receive a welcome email with your account details and login credentials if a new account was created.
  6. Log in and complete your profile – After registration, log in to your account and fill in any remaining profile information, then start adding properties.

Practical Use Cases

  • New agent signing up – A real estate agent who is not yet in the system visits the site and registers to start listing their properties.
  • Property owner self-registration – A homeowner who wants to list their property for sale without working through an agency registers as an "Owner" and submits their listing.
  • Broker joining a company – A broker registers and selects their company from the dropdown during registration, automatically associating their profile with the agency.
  • Existing user upgrading their role – A site visitor who already has a Joomla account logs in and goes through the Agent Registration process to gain property listing access.
  • Subscription-based platform – On a site using OS Membership, a new agent registers and then selects a subscription plan that determines how many properties they can list and for how long.

Key Elements on the Screen

Personal details section

  • First name / Last name – The user's full name
  • Email address – Used for login and contact
  • Username – Chosen login username (for new accounts)
  • Password / Confirm password – Account password (for new accounts)
  • Phone, Mobile, Fax – Contact numbers
  • Address fields – Street address, city, state, country, postcode

Real estate profile section

  • User type – Dropdown selector for role: Agent, Owner, Broker, Builder, Landlord, Seller, or others as configured by the site
  • Company – Optional dropdown to associate the new user with an existing company in the system
  • About / Description – A text area for a brief personal or professional bio

CAPTCHA
A security verification step that may appear on the form if enabled by the site administrator, helping to prevent automated spam registrations.

Submit button
Submits the completed form. If all required fields are filled correctly, the registration is processed.

Expected Results

After successful registration:

  • A new user account is created in the system (if the user did not already have one).
  • The user receives a welcome email containing their login credentials.
  • The user can log in and access the front-end property management features available to their user type.
  • If OS Membership integration is active, the user may be redirected to a membership selection page to complete the subscription step before accessing property listing features.

Important Notes

  • The registration form is accessible to both guests (non-logged-in visitors) and existing Joomla users.
  • If CAPTCHA is enabled, the registration will fail without completing the CAPTCHA step.
  • The user type selected during registration determines what the user can do on the site (for example, whether they can add listings, access agent tools, etc.).
  • Company assignment during registration is optional. The user can be assigned to a company later by an administrator or through their profile settings.
  • On sites using OS Membership, registration may be tied to a subscription. Users who have not completed a valid subscription may have limited or no access to property listing features even after registration.
  • Administrators are typically notified by email when a new user registers, depending on the site's notification settings.
  • If a user already has a Joomla account and registers as a real estate user, a duplicate Joomla account will not be created — the existing account will be upgraded with real estate user privileges.
  • Password and account security requirements (minimum length, special characters, etc.) follow the Joomla user account settings configured on the site.
