Manage Properties
[TOC]
Purpose
The Manage Properties (front-end administration) feature provides privileged users with a front-end interface to view, search, filter, and manage all property listings on the site — not just their own. This feature is intended for site managers or administrators who need to perform property oversight tasks from the front end of the site without having to log in to the Joomla back-end admin panel.
This is different from the standard agent profile page, where regular agents manage only their own listings. Manage Properties gives authorized users a comprehensive, site-wide view of all properties.
How It Works
The Manage Properties page presents a paginated table of all property listings in the system, along with a full set of filter and sort controls. Authorized users can search for specific properties by keyword, filter the list by category, type, published status, featured status, approval status, and location (country, state, city). They can sort results by various fields.
For each property in the list, the user can:
- Edit the property's information
- Change its published status (publish or unpublish)
- Change its featured or approval status inline
- Delete the property
Access to this page is controlled by Joomla user group permissions. Only users who have been granted the Front-End Manage permission for OS Property can view and use this page.
How to Use It
- Log in with an account that has the Front-End Manage permission for OS Property.
- Navigate to the Manage Properties page from the site menu (this menu item is typically only shown to authorized users).
- Browse or filter the property list — Use the filter controls to narrow the list:
- Type a keyword to search by property name, reference, agent name, type, state, or city
- Select a category, property type, published status, featured status, or approval status
- Choose a country, state, and city to filter by location
- Sort the list — Use the Sort By and Order dropdowns to arrange the list by field and direction.
- Manage a property — Click the Edit link to modify a property's details. Use the inline status controls to toggle published, featured, or approved states directly.
- Delete properties — Select one or more properties using the checkboxes and use the Delete action to remove them.
- Add a new property — If the option is available, use the Add New button to create a new property from the front end.
Practical Use Cases
- Moderation — A site manager reviews newly submitted properties and approves or publishes them after verifying the information.
- Bulk status management — An administrator quickly publishes or unpublishes multiple properties without entering each one individually.
- Property clean-up — An operator removes outdated or incorrectly submitted listings from the site-wide property pool.
- Cross-agent management — A company manager reviews and edits properties belonging to any agent under their oversight.
- Quick property search — A support user needs to locate a specific property to help a client and uses the keyword search to find it fast.

Authorized users see a complete, filterable, and sortable view of all properties in the system. They can quickly find properties by any combination of filter criteria, update their status, edit their details, or remove them. This enables efficient oversight without requiring back-end access.
Important Notes
- Access to this page is restricted by Joomla user group permissions. Only users with the Front-End Manage permission for OS Property can access the Manage Properties layout. Attempting to access this page without permission will return an access denied error.
- This feature is intended for site managers and administrators, not for regular agents or property owners. Regular agents manage only their own properties via the Agent Edit Profile page.
- Inline status changes (published, featured, approved) take effect immediately. There is no separate confirmation step when toggling a status.
- Deleting a property is permanent. There is no recycle bin or undo option for deleted properties — verify carefully before using the delete action.
- The list includes all properties across all agents and companies in the system, regardless of who submitted them.
- Large sites with many listings may benefit from using the filters to narrow the list before performing any bulk actions.
