Installation

[TOC] This section covers how to install OS Calendar.

Prerequisites

Before installing OS Calendar, make sure you have:

  1. A working Joomla 4.x / 5.x / 6.x installation.
  2. OS Property installed and configured on your site. OS Calendar is a dependent add-on for OS Property and will not function without it.

Install OS Calendar

Download the OS Calendar package from our website after purchasing. The package file is named similar to com_oscalendar.zip.

To install:

  1. Log in to your Joomla administrator panel (e.g. http://www.mysite.com/administrator).
  2. Go to Extensions → Extension Manager.
  3. Click the Browse button and select the file com_oscalendar.zip.
  4. Click Upload & Install.

After successful installation you will see a success confirmation message. OS Calendar will appear under Components → OS Calendar in the administrator menu.

Notice: Do not uninstall the old version before installing a new one. Installing a newer version over the existing one is a safe upgrade that preserves all your booking data and configuration.

Install the Availability Search Module

The package also includes mod_ospropertyavailabilitysearch, a front-end search module that allows visitors to search properties by available check-in / check-out dates.

The module is installed automatically when you install the main OS Calendar package. After installation, go to Extensions → Modules, find OS Property Availability Search, and publish it to the desired module position.

Upgrade OS Calendar

When a new version of OS Calendar is released, you will see an update notification in the OS Calendar Dashboard.

There are two ways to upgrade:

A. Manual upgrade

  1. Download the latest package from our website (My Downloads section after login).
  2. Install it the same way as a new installation via Extensions → Extension Manager.
  3. Your data and configuration will not be affected.

B. Automatic update from back-end

  1. Register a Download ID at: https://www.joomdonation.com/download-ids.html
  2. Enter the Download ID in OS Calendar → Configuration → Upgrade tab → Download ID field.
  3. Go to Extensions → Manage → Update to update to the latest version automatically.

Tip: Before any upgrade, back up your site using Akeeba Backup or a similar tool so you can roll back if anything goes wrong.
